Think About Turning Today!

THINK ABOUT TURNING TODAY!
Merry Christmas - we even have snow on the ground. This is good (?) for my Optimist Club anyway as it spikes our Christmas tree sales at the west Wal-Mart parking lot. p.s.  I have $5.00 off coupons if you plan to buy a tree there anyhow.
What is coming up for our club?
The Nomination Committee has to meet yet before the 9th. If you have an inclination to be an officer contact Martin, Doc, or myself.
The "Big" contest is only a week away so time to add to the decorations you already produced ( or get started !). Remember there will be prizes. Contest format includes areas around the following types of decorations: bulbs, candle holders, scroll saw or piercing, boxes, stacked bowls, wine stoppers, goblets, & Christmas Misc. [Time to get in the "spirit" anyway]
We hope to have a Dec. class at west high.
"Some" work being done on the AAW grant for 2010.  Speaking of AAW; they would like us to participate in a survey. It is posted at  http://tinyurl.com/yhypa8m
This month's programs will be on antler pens by Darrald and Marjorie Ferrin, and a short program by Mick Hogg.
As was mentioned at the last meeting the programs for next year will be at least partly on basic tools and there use and sharpening.  Other subjects, as always, are welcome and interesting for members wanting to extend their knowledge and turning agendas. A sign-up sheet will be available Wed. evening (Please sign up for a month and a tool to instruct on or the activities committee will decided for you, You and the others who signed up with you are in charge of setting up the program, you don't have to do the program yourself, but can ask someone to present it for you).    Also a new sign-up will be there for cookie suppliers ( our member's talents extent in to many areas !)
My shop is plowing ahead (slow, but steady) the front 16' X 8' door is in; also installed are enough doors and windows and insulation in the eave openings to be able to throw in some heat.  Nice to take the chill off the work area on these cooler days.
Hope to see everyone at Ron"s garage.
