Think About Turning Today!

Well, it takes less heat to be out in our shops with this (?) warmer weather; the trick is to find time to be out there.

This coming meeting (May 13th) we have to plan our Demo at Heights Ace Hardware. Their rush is 9:00 am to 4:00 pm; and of course, they want us there those hours. More hours are a possible; it will depend upon the wishes of the participants. Likely we will want to set up some shifts to spread the time among more members. Ed Auker has offered his 10 X 20' Awning; it will be a real blessing in case of any moisture or hot sun.

Planning on some up dating of our Oct. symposium; and we need to make a decision on when to have our next "open shop". June will be the month if we are going to stay on a quarterly basis.

We had an excellent class in April for the tech club at West High; it was our last session for this school year. Don Buska, George Hoffman, and Mick Hogg helped the very interested students move forward with their turning skills. They are inviting this year's instructors back in May for a BBQ in the parking lot outside the school's wood shop. At this time it has been moved to the 15th of May (Friday) starting at 10:30 am. A good showing would be nice to spend time talking to the students, and encouraging them to attend some of our own functions. We have invited them to our meetings, open shops, fair booth, and symposium. Past experience has them only showing up to some extent at the fair booth; with this year's talented crew we are more hopeful.

This month's program for the meeting has Don Buska, Willard Johnson, and Paul Casterline on our list to produce something of interest. I know Don has been cooking up something; goes without saying it should be educational. See you at the meeting,

Stan Lambert, Pres.
